Individuals with Higher Self-Reported Empathy Detect Subtle Emotions More Accurately

Understanding other’s emotional state is one of the most important constructs consisting the multifaceted concept of empathy. We developed a novel task to measure individual ability to detect other’s emotions based on dynamic thin-slice evidence and found that individuals with higher self-reported empathy showed greater accuracy in detecting subtle emotions.
