Youth Understanding of the Detrimental Effects of Poverty

The unequal economic distribution within the United States includes many children living in low income families and neighborhoods. Qualitative responses of fourth- and sixth- grade youth show they understand both systematic and individual implications of poverty. Youth belief in meritocracy and their own life satisfaction affected responses.
