Abstract
Parenting styles may shape child self-regulation, yet these associations are rarely investigated in middle childhood and with immigrant families. Moreover, neighborhood disadvantage might moderate this relationship. Using a sample of Chinese American children, our findings suggest that parenting styles shape child self-regulation above and beyond family and neighborhood socioeconomic factors.
