Perceived Source Credibility Increases Sharing of Misinformation Online

Abstract
We examined the impact of source credibility and processing fluency on truth, like, and share decisions in a mock-online environment. Participants (N=290) rated trivia statements (half with a photo) from one of four source credibility conditions (ambiguous, high, low, absent). Source credibility was more influential on information-sharing behaviors than photos.
