Abstract
This study evaluated the Social-Emotional Expertise (SEE) Scale for gender-based differential item functioning within an item response theory (IRT) framework. The results suggest that mean differences across gender are a result of measurement bias rather than a meaningful difference in the underlying construct of social-emotional expertise.
