Abstract

Recent research suggests that using first-person singular pronouns (“I-talk”) is a marker of self-focused negativity. I-talk is consistently associated with depression symptoms and negative emotionality. We replicated these findings in an online paradigm, demonstrating the viability of a short, remote writing task in generating an indirect measure of self-focused negativity.
