Abstract

When instructed to relax and watch a subtitled movie, participants with higher trait mindfulness displayed lower N100 amplitude to auditory tones in a classic sensory gating paradigm and had worse sensory gating. Preliminary evidence suggests that exposure to a brief mindfulness activity may weaken sensory gating, although effects were small.
