What Is the Appraisal Structure of Joy?

In this study we examined the appraisal structure of joy by randomly assigning participants to recall one of four different emotional events (joy, gratitude, pride, contentment). Results provided support for the theory that the specific theme of joy appraisals is “I have become connected with someone/something important to me.”
