Abstract
A survey of 213 first-year undergraduate students revealed that students considering dropping out of college reported significantly higher academic and social burden (ASB) compared to those who were not, and that higher ASB was significantly related to lower academic self-efficacy. Implications for policy and pedagogy are discussed.
