Abstract

This study examined associations among college student generation status, childhood adversity, and reports of stress during the first semester of college. First-generation students reported greater stress than continuing-generation students. Among continuing-gens only, childhood adversity was associated with elevated academic stress similar to levels reported by first-gens, irrespective of SES.
