Abstract
This study’s prior research on African Immigrant individuals briefly discussed parent-child relationships using focus group data. In response, individual interviews were conducted with original participants (N=14). Utilizing Family Systems Theory, thematic analysis highlighted themes regarding sibling parentification, differential cultural experiences, and parental assimilation—illuminating complexities within multi-directional/cultural family dynamics.
