None of Your Business: Knowledge Hiding and Negative Affective Reactions to Nosy Behavior at Work

Abstract
We conducted a qualitative study to determine how employees conceptualize workplace nosiness. Using qualitative methods, we found that employees with high levels of social comparison orientation were more likely to hide information and reported experiencing more negative affective reactions to nosiness at work. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed.
