Abstract
Adolescence is marked by increasing autonomy. However, little research has examined different types of meaningful social roles (MSR) where youth find opportunities for independence and maturity. Utilizing a mixed methods approach, our study developed a 4-factor measure of MSR in which independence, responsibility, leadership, and communication emerged as key features.
