Differences in Perceptions of Disabled Applicants and Employees

Abstract
Two studies examined whether disabled workers are evaluated more poorly on hiring and performance than non-disabled workers. We further predicted that an applicant or employee with a mental disability would be rated the most harshly. We found partial support for our predictions for hiring decisions, but not for performance appraisals.
