Abstract
Is clothing used as metaphorical and literal devices in visual language? We correlated the skin exposure in costumes of Marvel Comics characters with their powers, revealing 38 significant correlations for male characters but no correlations for female characters. Implications for visual language perception and gender inequalities will be discussed.
