Motivation in English Language Learning, Gender, and Age Among Japanese Elementary School Students

Abstract
This study examined relationships between gender, age, and academic motivation in English language learning for 246 (123 boys and 123 girls) Japanese elementary school students from grades five and six. Participants completed a measure of English language learning motivation. Overall, females had higher motivation toward English learning than males.
