Residential Mobility and Vocabulary Achievement As Mediators of the Association between Poverty at Birth and Middle-Childhood Disruptive Behavriors

Abstract
Exposure to poverty at birth predicted elevated disruptive behaviors at age 9 through elevated residential mobility in early childhood and lower verbal skills at school entry. Interventions aimed at improving access to stable housing and targeting vocabulary development for families living in poverty may have downstream effects on behavioral development.
