Teaching Practice Is Congruent with Some Cognitive Learning Principles More Than Others

Abstract
We examined the congruence between teaching practice and cognitive learning principles. Videotaped mathematics lessons were coded using a novel classroom observation instrument developed for this study. Rasch analysis indicated unidimensionality of the construct and variability in the extent to which instruction was highly congruent with learning principles.
