Abstract
How do we define the eerie feeling we get when we see humanoid robots or creepy horror films? Taking the perspective of the Meaning Maintenance Model, we investigate the uncanny valley and how human-like characters elicit feelings of uncanniness due to violation of our expectations on what is human.
