The Impact of Perceived Oppression, Medical Mistrust, and Racism on Maternal and Infant Mortality Among African Americans

African Americans experience a disproportionate amount of health conditions and access to health care compared to White Americans. Research suggests that historical and social factors such as perceived oppression, medical mistrust, and racism may explain health disparities for African American mothers and infants.
