Abstract

Building on emotional intensity theory, our experiment showed how the risk of romantic breakup influences the intensity of love and commitment towards the partner. Precisely, increasing levels of perceived risk first augmented and then diminished young adults’ affect, this shedding light on previous mixed findings on obstacles within romantic relationships.
