Abstract
Intrusive parenting has traditionally been understood as poor parenting, but recent research indicates that white, Western judgements of parenting cannot be universally applied to development. This study found that intrusiveness worsened behavior problems and emotion regulation skills in white toddlers but was not associated with behavior in African American families.
