Seeing the Deep Structure of Emotion: Applying the Triad Judgment Task to the Perception of Emotion Causes

This study investigated adults’ (N=134) ability to perceive the underlying causes of emotion using a triad judgment task. Results showed that participants were able to better perceive emotion causes when competition between surface and structural features was removed. Findings have implications for deep structure perception in emotional contexts.
