The Perceived Motivations for Helicopter Parenting Moderate Links Between Helicopter Parenting and Negative Outcomes

Abstract
The current study revealed that youth’s perceptions of helicopter parenting (HP) motivations are associated with youth adjustment and parent-child relationships such that perceived negative motivations are tied to worse outcomes. Youth's perceptions also moderate associations between HP and these negative outcomes, where positive motivations in particular attenuate these links.
