Abstract
Whether or not task-irrelevant emotional stimuli disrupt performance may depend on the sensory modality and timing of the stimuli. Results from Study 1 using a visual task and Study 2 using an auditory task demonstrate that emotional information only disrupts performance when presented through the same modality as the task.
