Why for Some, More Is Never Enough: The Emotional Underpinnings of Greedy Acquisition

Across seven studies (N = 2326) we find that greedy people experience intense bursts of authentic pride in response to new acquisitions, but over time these feelings quickly dissipate. This dynamic emotional process may explain the central defining feature of dispositional greed: an insatiable desire to always acquire more.
