Abstract

A set of 750 words in Spanish were rated by college students on their survival value, focusing on their utility for avoiding death and obtaining food. Survival ratings correlated with a range of lexical and semantic variables and predicted word accessibility. The ratings also constitute a normative database in Spanish.
