How Encoding-Retrieval Overlap in Gaze Positions Influence Episodic Memory Accessibility in the “Real World”

Over four experiments in real-world scenarios, we replicate our previous lab findings that encoding-retrieval overlap in gaze positions facilitates episodic remembering (Johansson & Johansson, 2014). Critically, we identify two main components that are driving the effects: (1) contextual expectation and (2) the need to handle interference from competing memories.
