Abstract
Rosenstock’s Health Belief Model is characterized by low effect sizes, particularly considering symptom severity perceptions. Study applied generalizable decision-making theory to hypothetical health care-seeking task. Subjective Values Theory explained over 80% of variance in reaction time and response choice probability when faced with discrete health symptom and symptom pair decisions.
