Abstract
We describe the activities that parents and 38-month-old children engage in during spontaneous interactions recorded at home, in a diverse sample of 64 families. Compared to higher-SES children, lower-SES children spent less time in educationally-oriented activities such as pretend, spent more time alone, and switched between activities more often.
