Abstract
Perceived neighborhood safety may affect children’s mental health by increasing stress and disrupting cognitive processes. This study examines whether working memory mediates the association between perceived neighborhood safety and externalizing symptoms one year later. Our findings highlight one cognitive process that may link neighborhood factors to mental health outcomes.
