Depressive Symptoms Predict Greater Negative Affect and Less Time with Friends: An Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) Study

Abstract
We used EMA to test depressive symptoms as a predictor of positive affect (PA) and negative affect (NA) in social contexts. Overall PA increased and NA decreased when with friends vs. alone. Depressive symptoms predicted less time with friends and greater NA with friends.
