Abstract
Using Ecological Systems theory (Bronfenbrenner,1992), we examined how historical, social and developmental contexts shape school police officers’ roles and the challenges and opportunities they encounter. Focus group transcripts of 45 officers revealed that officer experiences were multifaceted, mutually constitutive, and contextualized within interests of constituencies, historical changes, and school policies.
