Abstract

The association of morality and physical purity was tested in a “market research” context. Compared to truth tellers, oral liars were expected to prefer mouthwash whereas those who wrote lies were expected to prefer hand sanitizer; these expectations were not supported. However, political ideology was associated with moral foundation scores.
