The Effects of Ostracism on Alcohol Consumption

Abstract
Alcohol consumption has been used as a coping strategy to reduce the negative affects resulting from social exclusion, but it is unclear whether ostracism promotes drinking. Ostracism in a large sample increased desire and intention to drink in participants with positive attitudes and perceived social norms toward drinking.
