Verbal and Nonverbal Development in Toddlers with Autism Spectrum Disorder When Interacting with Their Mothers across Four Years

This investigation explored the linguistic behavior of children with ASD around 2.5 years of age through 5.5 years of age. In four years, rate of speech indicated growth and development while more variability was found for gestures. The gesture usage may reflect play style and play choice of the child.
