The Greener, the Better: A Company’s Environmental Performance Influences Affective Commitment

Abstract
We examined how job seekers would feel if they worked for a company involved in greenwashing; a strategy used to appear eco-friendly. In an experimental online study (N= 140), we found that a bad environmental performance is associated with lower affective commitment, which is mediated by higher perceptions of greenwashing.
