Abstract
We considered positive affect, activity level, and inhibitory control as possible protective factors for internalizing behaviors in toddlers preselected as shy. Temperament was observed during laboratory tasks and parents reported toddler internalizing behaviors. Results indicated fewer internalizing behaviors among toddlers who showed greater positivity, less activity, and better inhibitory control.
