Abstract
An online study that simulated hiring decision scenarios tested our hypothesis that candidates would be ranked higher if the personality stereotypes associated with their age were congruent with traits associated with their prospective job. Contrary to our hypothesis, younger applicants were systematically favored over older applicants for all jobs.
