Turkish-Speaking Immigrant Parents’ Experiences and Attitudes in the U.S.: Transmitting Their Heritage Culture and Language While Raising Bilingual Children

Abstract
Based on semi-structured interviews with eight Turkish-speaking parents, we explored parents’ acculturation and language attitudes. Three themes emerged from our work: (1) benefits and drawbacks of raising a bilingual child; (2) parental acculturation experiences; and (3) parental strategies for helping children preserve heritage and dominant languages in the U.S.
