Abstract
Building on the theory of Counter-Regulatory Eating, we explore antecedent causes of the negative correlation between two factors that are predictive of emotional eating. Study 1 uncovered the moderational role of impulsivity in the relation between cognitive restraint and disinhibition. Study 2 discovered social rejection to be predictive of impulsivity.
