Assessing Trauma Competency and Trauma Sensitivity in Emerging Healthcare Professionals: Attributions of Victim Blame As a Function of Trauma Type

Emerging healthcare professionals evaluated vignettes describing trauma in three different domains (physical abuse, rape, and combat). Participants ascribed different levels of blaming the victim depending on cause of trauma. These findings raise concern of the risk that healthcare professionals who are not trauma-informed may create a pejorative environment undermining healing.
