Abstract
Knowledge of letter shapes is central to reading. Preliminary results from three experiments among 34 skilled adolescent readers found an inability to recall the existence of a common printed letter shape (looptail-g), and incomplete/inaccurate knowledge of the letter’s shape. This helps our understanding of how letter shapes are learned.
