Remembering Together: Listening to Rumination Changes Affect and Autobiographical Memory Recall

Abstract
Overgeneralized memory recall (OGM) is a vulnerability marker for depression. Research by F. Raes et al. (2008) suggests that inducing rumination in individuals leads to greater OGM. Because most remembering happens collectively, we discuss how listening to another's rumination changes a listener's subsequent affect and ability to recall autobiographical memories.
