Abstract
We contrast activity related to encoding and retrieval of common words, uncommon words, phonemes, and nonwords. We included in our sample native and nonnative English speakers in order to contrast for word and nonword processing. Two networks of brain activity were identified: (i) frontal cortex; and (ii) and temporal lobe.
