Abstract
Could a relatively new product—caffeinated gum—influence susceptibility to misinformation? Subjects chewed gum before progressing through a misinformation paradigm. We told half our subjects, deceptively, that the gum was caffeinated. The results suggest that the deception did not decrease one’s susceptibility to taking on misinformation.
