Abstract
Four groups factorially studied and recalled the same 40 stimuli presented as either, pictures or words, and also recalled them as pictures or words across three free−recall trials. Stimulus and recall formats differentially influenced performance. All groups were hypermnesic: memory grew across trials. We interpret results with our ARP hypothesis.
