Abstract
We examined the role of implicit theories of social conditions (ITSC; i.e., the belief that social conditions can change with people’s efforts) and self-efficacy for creating social change (SCE) in predicting political engagement. ITSC predicted multiple forms of engagement; SCE mediated this relationship. Implications for promoting civic engagement are discussed.
