The Role of Coping and Disaster Exposure in Resilience and Post-Disaster Adjustment: A Moderated Mediation Model

We used a two-wave longitudinal design to capture the process through which resilience predicted undergraduates’ posttraumatic stress symptoms after Hurricane Irma through coping. Higher resilience predicted less avoidance coping, and in turn fewer symptoms after the hurricane; disaster exposure moderated the mediation process of resilience predicting symptoms through avoidance coping.
