Trauma Films Evoke the Strongest Response in Stress Reactivity in a Comparison of Trauma Cues: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Abstract
In this meta-analysis, we examined heart rate change in response to various types of trauma cues across 14 studies, 25 subgroups, and 1,175 individual trauma-exposed participants using Cohen’s d as a measure of standardized mean difference. Results indicate that trauma film cues evoke the greatest increases in heart rate.
